TN Strategic Planning for Economic Development Course

The Tennessee Strategic Planning for Economic Development Course is a one-and-a-half day course that covers the steps to successfully implement a strategic planning process for your organization, your geographic area, or project. Course topics include consensus building; understanding and applying economic data; developing mission, vision, and goals; and measuring progress.

This course is one of a series provided by UT Center for Industrial Services (UT CIS) designed to share best practices and trends with Tennessee’s economic development practitioners, private industry leaders, community leaders and elected officials.​

$345 before July 16  |  $395 after July 16

The registration fee covers course materials, instruction, selected meals and refreshment breaks. It does not cover hotel and other travel expenses. Registration is limited to 35 participants and is filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Cancellation and Refund Policy:

Payment needs to reach our office two weeks prior to the class. No refunds or credits will be issued for cancellations one week or less prior to the first date of class, but credit may be applied towards another UT CIS course.

A limited number of scholarships are available to course participants from Tennessee. Applications for scholarships can be downloaded here Scholarship Application.

Scholarships cover $270 of the $345 course tuition cost, and do not include hotel, travel or meals. Scholarship recipients will be required to pay $75 of the tuition cost, which will not be refundable should the participant withdraw from the course. Applications must be received by July 9, 2019 to be considered for a scholarship.

Dress Code:

The attire for the course is business casual.

Ziegler’s broad range of professional experience spans the public, private, and non-profit sectors in economic development and competitiveness, multimodal transportation and freight planning, innovative funding and financing, and resilience.  She has developed integrated solution strategies for challenging economic development and transportation issues and is a frequent speaker at national conferences. Her greatest strengths are her essential understanding of multi-jurisdictional dynamics and her national experience in emerging trends and issues and strategic and scenario planning.  She excels in engaging diverse stakeholders in collaborative processes and building consensus that leads to implementation.
