APEX Accelerator Conference in Oak Ridge, TN Connects Prime Contractors with Construction Companies

More than 50 construction company representatives took time out of their busy schedules to attend a Tennessee APEX Accelerator-sponsored construction opportunities event in early March. APEX Accelerator was previously known as PTAC. The meeting allowed construction companies to hear directly from the prime government contractors managing the Y-12 National Security Complex, Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and United Cleanup Oak Ridge (UCOR) on upcoming construction opportunities and contract pre-qualifications.

APEX Accelerator Counselor Jutta Bangs coordinated the event. Decision makers from each prime contractor gave presentations about specific projects planned for this year as well as an overview of the requirements needed to compete for those projects. The in-person event proved to be of benefit to both the prime contractors as well as the construction companies.

Ken Graham of Crisp and Crisp Construction Contracting said, “The 2 ½ hour drive was time well spent. We had the opportunity to listen to key personnel from each [contractor] tell us not only what is actually needed but just as importantly what is not… For us the event was a win-win! In one day, we were able to obtain the information we sought and more.”

A special Thank-You goes to the East Tennessee Economic Council (ETEC), who hosted the event.

“We enjoy facilitating connections between prime contractors and businesses, and follow-up activities are already in motion. APEX Accelerators assist with growing businesses in the public sector marketplace, and support prime contractors with achieving their missions” said Jutta Bangs, East Tennessee APEX Accelerator Counselor.
