Kim Denton Named Director of Economic Development for UT CIS

Congratulations to Kim Denton on her new role as Director of Economic Development for UT CIS!  She began her new position on May 1.

“I am excited about the future of UT CIS and how our economic and workforce development programs are positively impacting communities across the state.  I am energized by the opportunities for growth and look forward to contributing to our success," says Kim.

Denton brings impressive economic development experience, an extensive professional network, and a strong public service ethic to the position.  She has been UT CIS’ TCED Director since 2016 where she grew the program while maintaining its quality reputation. During this period, she also headed the UT EDA University Center and served a term as UT CIS’ Team Culture chair.

Before joining UT CIS, Kim served as Associate Director of Corporate and Foundation Development for the UTK Haslam College of Business (2014-16) and President of the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce (1998-2014).

“We’re excited that Kim is moving into the Director role at this important time in our state’s economic development,” said Paul Jennings, CIS Executive Director.  "As our national and state economy grows and transitions, we need to redouble our efforts to provide the best possible training for Tennessee economic development and workforce development professionals. We must also continue to find better ways to leverage university resources to address community challenges and opportunities.  Kim has the expertise and experience to make this happen.”
