Industrial Leadership

If you are a new supervisor in the area of environment, health and safety regulations or you have been recently delegated new responsibilities, you may be presented with leadership challenges and government regulations that can overwhelm you. The University of Tennessee Center for Industrial Services (UT CIS) would like to help ease these challenges and make your role easier through Industrial Supervisor Leadership training.

In this course, UT CIS provides a comprehensive approach to implement and sustain new organizational directives, an overview of current environment, health and safety regulations, best practices for establishing a safe organizational environment for employees, and tools to learn leadership behavior and best practices. Participants will receive an OSHA 10 Hour General Industry Card, in addition to learning the following leadership and supervision skills:

  • How to communicate more effectively as a new supervisor
  • How to build trust and gain respect
  • How to develop your own personal management style
  • Strategies for motivating others to achieve results
  • How to handle uncomfortable situations and conflict resolution
  • Learn what every new supervisor and manager should know about hiring and firing
  • Plan and prioritize each day's activities in a more efficient, productive manner
  • Overcome procrastination quickly and easily
  • Handle crises effectively and quickly
  • Organize your workplace and workflow to make better use of time
  • Delegate more efficiently
  • Use rituals to make your life run smoother

Course Fee: $485 includes light breakfast and lunch
