Executive Business Excellence Forum
The University of Tennessee Center for Industrial Services coordinated a one-day Executive Business Excellence Forum in the Memphis area in February, hosted by ThyssenKrupp Elevator. The forum’s keynote speaker was Isao Yoshino who is a retired Toyota executive and current Professor at Nagoya Gakuin University.
The objective of the forum was to assemble a regional group of senior leaders of business excellence continual improvement to network and share leadership methods which drive an engaged culture of continual improvement. These business leaders also discussed best practices, roadblocks they have faced and overcome, and business success stories.
Thirty five individuals, from three states, represented fourteen organizations comprised of manufacturing companies, service organizations, distribution and warehousing companies, healthcare firms, and academic institutions.
Some highlights from the event included Isao Yoshino’s presentation on Hoshin Kanri (deploying plans throughout an organization) and his previous roles and responsibilities at Toyota. As well, ThyssenKrupp Elevator discussed their journey through cultural transformation.
Open discussions took place on how an organization develops a culture which supports customer value and enables daily improvement, as well as how each organization defined senior leadership roles and responsibilities to create and deliver sustainable business value.
