Learning Objectives

  • To increase the awareness and preparedness among food industry representatives to the potential threat of a terrorist attack to intentionally contaminate the food supply chain with harmful agents.
  • To introduce participants to the attributes of the CARVER+Shock methodology and its application as a tool for assessing the vulnerability of a food facility to an act of terrorism.
  • To consider mitigation measures that would significantly reduce the likelihood of intentional contamination and making the site a less desirable target.
  • To identify agencies and organizations that provide information and assistance in the prevention of, the response to and the recovery from a deliberate food contamination event.
