Successful and Demonstrable QMS Implemented
Client Profile
National Seating Company, located
in Vonore, TN, is a manufacturer of seats for transportation
vehicles.
Situation
In the early 1990’s when
ISO 9000 was first introduced, the company was not required
by their customers to become registered and did not immediately
adopt the program; however early in this decade, the company
had come to the point where it needed to implement a Quality
Management Systems. Without
a proven and documented QMS, this manufacturer located atop a hill
overlooking beautiful Lake Tellico could not continue to effectively
serve its existing customers let alone grow the business.
Solution
The company president, Mr. Vernon
Lowe, and his management team under the direction of Mr. Dan
Whitley, decided that the company needed outside assistance
to implement an ISO 9001 Quality Management System and called
TMEP for assistance. Our
ISO consultants provided the company with a plan for implementation
and guided the company through the implementation and registration. This
project not only enabled the company to become ISO Certified but
allowed the company to grow their business and position themselves
to transition to the newer standard, TS 16949.
Results
With a successful and demonstrable
QMS implemented, National Seating Company was able to retain
existing business and take on new customers. Management at
National Seating Company feels that the investment made in
workforce training and tools during this project is the primary
reason for the minimal findings during the ISO surveillance
audits. Successful implementation of the Quality Management
System resulted in retained sales and jobs of eight million
and seventy five respectively which is a significant part of
their operation overall that is serving a niche market.
